Here’s how we can help you make your cookout delicious and easy to prepare:

Greet your dad and guests with a selection of steak, marinated chicken and steak tips, sausages, and seafood that are great for the grill. If you prefer a more casual day, simply put small bites out on platters for guests to take as they please.

  • NY Sirloin or Sirloin Strip Club Steak – available from our butcher counter, season simply by brushing on olive oil and sprinkling with salt and pepper just before grilling. Then slice and lay out on a platter for a crowd-pleasing presentation. When sliced thinly, these also make great meat options for sliders that guests can build themselves. For more, check out our 6 Easy Tips For Grilling A Perfect Steak.
  • Marinated chicken and marinated steak tips, both in a variety of flavors, are available for pick-up at Butcher Boy – ready to toss onto the grill, no seasoning or prep time needed!
  • Sausages are always a hit – grill up a selection and put out on a platter with toppings, grilled veggies, and buns for a surefire hit.
  • See our selection of specialty meat cuts here for more ideas.
  • Surf and Turf your way – Lobster Tail Seafoods is located in the Butcher Boy Marketplace and offers a wonderful selection of fresh and cooked seafood. Any of the meats mentioned above would pair well with skewers of grilled shrimp, grilled scallops, lobster (cooked or fresh for you to prepare at home – your choice), or grilled tuna steaks.

Bring out the sides! Complete your outdoor spread with one-stop shopping. Choose from a variety of potato salad, pasta salad, mixed vegetables, and other delicious offerings. And don’t forget our bakery’s delicious cakes, pies, and pastries. We have everything on your list, including beer, wine, and spirits. You can even find a gift for the dad who loves to grill. Fill a gift basket or box with a few of his favorite dry rubs, hot sauces, and a meat thermometer, add his beverage of choice and a sweet treat, and you’ve got a personally curated presentation.

With the onset of long summer nights, it’s easy to celebrate Dad. Just make one stop at Butcher Boy Market for everything you need.

Grilling For Father’s Day

Like many holidays, birthdays, and other special occasions over the past few months, Father’s Day is sure to feel and look a little different than we’re used to. But if you’re with your family – either at a safe distance or online – a backyard barbeque on a (hopefully) sunny, early summer day might help make this year’s celebration as close to “normal” as you can get, despite any restrictions related to the current public health crisis.

Why not cook Dad a steakhouse meal of your own? Butcher Boy has a variety of cuts available. Some of our favorites for a special dinner include tender filet mignon and flavorful New York strip.

father's day grillingWe’ve shared some delicious recipes in the past that are worth another look for your Father’s Day menu. For more inspiration, try this Steak au Poivre with Cognac Sauce or Bistecca alla Fiorentina, which is really just a fancy Italian name for a porterhouse dish but not any more difficult to prepare.

Need some advice for fool-proof grilling? We provide that, too, with our steak grilling guide and tips on techniques.

If it’s not possible to spend the whole day with your father, grandfather, or other special male figure, consider bringing him your homemade meal to go. Drop it off or set up a picnic on the lawn for you to enjoy together. No matter what, memories will be made this Father’s Day, and we wish all you a safe and healthy one.

Don’t forget Butcher Boy is open to serve you. Please visit and shop with us, following our current guidelines.

Steaks for Father’s Day

Fire up those grills or stovetops and get ready to spoil dad. While he has a whole summer of outdoor cooking coming his way, he shouldn’t be responsible for his own Father’s Day dinner.

Here at Butcher Boy Market we know what Dad really wants: steak. So we’re serving up several tasty and unique recipes to go with some of our favorites cuts. Not a steak cooking champ like Dad? Refer to these six easy tricks for grilling the perfect steak, and our guide on how to check your meat’s temperature without a thermometer.

1) Filet Mignon with Porcini Compound Butter

via FoodieCrush

Oh the tender filet. This lean cut, when cooked correctly, has all the decadence of a upscale restaurant without the price tag. FoodieCrush advises that you pan-grill the steak first, and finish it off in the oven. The Porcini compound butter creates a succulent sauce when melded with the meat. Bacon-wrap your steak for an extra burst of flavor. Don’t be stingy with the kosher salt and black pepper. Serve with pats of the butter on top.

2) Seared New York Strip Steak with Red Wine Balsamic Reduction

via The Cookie Rookie

Strip steaks are easy-to-cook and delicious with a tight texture and strong beefy flavor. The Cookie Rookie‘s recipe for skillet seared strip steak with balsamic reduction is perfect for your Father’s Day celebration or just a regular day. Massage the reduction into the steak and top with garlic, sea salt, and rosemary, let it marinade for thirty minutes before cooking. Slice the meat and drizzle on the remaining sauce.

3) Grilled Porterhouse Steak with Chimichurri Sauce

via Fine Cooking

For a bigger and beefier meal, grill your dad the proclaimed King of T-Bones, the Porterhouse steak. With just a little heat from jalapeño, Fine Cooking‘s recipe pairs the steak with their spicy take on the classic Argentinean condiment: chimichurri. As with every steak, after you’ve finished cooking to your desired temperature, let it rest before serving. Trust us on this.

4) T-Bone Steak with Garlic and Rosemary Recipe

via Kitchen Swagger

The t-shaped bone in the t-bone steak conducts heat within the meat, which helps it cook evenly. This cut doesn’t need a long cooking time to tenderize, and is a popular staple of steakhouses. To avoid the madness of a steakhouse on Father’s Day, use Kitchen Swagger‘s “steakhouse method” recipe at home instead. The steak is seared with butter, olive oil, minced garlic, and fresh rosemary, then finished off in the oven to give it a slightly crusted outside and juicy tender inside.

5) Cowboy Steak and Whiskey Butter

Cowboy Steak and Whiskey Butter
via Better Homes and Gardens

The Cowboy steak, also known as a bone-in ribeye, is a tender cut with a delicious marbling of fat. If Dad is a fan of Jack Daniel, then this recipe from Better Homes and Gardens is sure to please. First, prepare the compound whisky butter and roll in a round log to refrigerate until hard and easy to cut. Next, prepare the dry rub and follow the grill instructions for medium-rare doneness. Let it rest before topping it with the butter.

Happy Father’s Day from Butcher Boy!

7Send Dad to Butcher Boy’s famous 60-foot full-service meat counter and let him pick out whatever he wants. Our butchers love sharing their know-how. They will help him find the perfect cut, and give him the advice he needs to cook it just right.

6 Easy Tricks For Grilling A Perfect Steak

1) Do Nothing

Let your steak sit on the counter for 20 minutes to an hour before cooking. Meat brought to room temperature cooks faster and more evenly. If you’ve got a salad to prep or a last-minute Father’s Day gift to wrap, now would be the time.

2) Forks Are For Eating, Not Cooking

Use tongs when moving your steaks around the grill. Forks pierce the meat, losing all that delicious juice and flavor.

3) If You Can’t Stand The Heat, You’re Doing It Right

You want your grill to be hot. 450 degrees, to be exact. But you don’t need a thermometer to tell you when the grill is ready to go. If you can hold your hand directly over the grill for more than 1-2 seconds, it’s not hot enough yet.

4) Stand Guard Over Your Meat

Flare-ups on the grill burn your meat. Gently move your steak around the grill as needed to keep it out of direct flames. Only you can prevent steak fires. Which reminds us of our next point…

5) Grilling Demands Your Full Attention

Prep your appetizers, side dishes, and cocktails before cooking your steaks. Once you’ve started grilling, you’ll need all eyes on the meat.

6) You And Your Steak Need Rest

Grilling is hard work for both you and your steak. Let the meat sit for about 10 minutes off the grill before eating. A short resting period allows the meat to relax, and the juices to spread evenly. You can use the time to set the table, or get Dad a beer.
